i don't know. i think it's a lovely image. i hadn't noticed the "laboured" bit. and i like the pairing of the images.

And, you're right, it is awkward to walk this way, thus the arms looking laboured.

Really like the curvature of her back in the image on the right! The arms around each other look a little laboured though I feel, more so his.
